Spring Birthday Brunch

For my mom's birthday last April I held a brunch at my home. Along with all the typical brunch food, I wanted a pretty spring dessert table. I looooveee dessert tables. I have a small obsession with cake stands, and I had a couple new pink ones I had been dying to use. So I knew pink had to been one of the main colors used in my desserts.

By April in Pittsburgh, everyone is ready for spring. The weather is miserable, rainy, and gray. I wanted to see the green grass, flowers blooming, blue skies. If we couldn't have it outside, I would do my best to bring it to my dessert table.

My first project was décor. I decided on lattice work and ivy for a background. Getting the lattice work home with a Honda civic was certainly interesting! I found some cute butterfly clips at pier one that I attached to the ivy.

I then put together two rose ball topiaries for decorations. Two of these took me all day. Maybe a tutorial to come?

Tried the brush embroidery technique on a couple pink cookies. Not bad, need a few more brushes and I can try again.

First try on a ruffle cake. Love those pretty pink cake stands!

Made a couple cakepops, and my hubby made me this white picket fence stand to help create a flower garden look.

We had a mimosa bar, of course. I meant to put the orange and cranberry juice in prettier bottles but I ran out of time.
